Body and yukurrukurru slates designs for NGARRKA (Initiated man) and WITI (men dancing leafy poles)
Women dance NGARRKA at night: final phase when 5 Nungarrayi sit in a circle and send the kuruwarri (live images of the Dreaming/jukurrpa) which they painted on their bodies and the slates back to the underground. The designs refer to WITI, poles (up to 4 meters long) that young men cut and tie with dry leaves to fix at their feet when they perform the WITI dance for the intiation of young boys
