ijlpo sigriiï¬Åes " sacred " in the dialect of Seniang, and luh has
exactly the same meaning in the dialect of Hurtes. Kan is another
Seniang word meaning " sacred â€ù or “ tabu". Thus the two
grades and the grade title can all three be translated “Sacred
Fire â€ù. Naamb Tilzo is doubtless an indigenous grade in Seniang,
while Naamb Loh was probably adopted from the Nimangki
series which existed in Hurtes when that district was still
inhabited. The meaning of the word barang in the title Barangbie
