Barbara Glowczewski is a Director of Research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris and a Member of the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie sociale <http://www.ehess.fr/centres/las/index.html>. She coordinates a postgraduate research seminar on the ‘Anthropology of networks’ at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. Dr Glowczewski has been working in Australia since 1979, first with Warlpiri, then with different groups in the northwestern Kimberley, especially in Broome, home of her husband, Jowandi Wayne Barker, Aboriginal film maker and composer. At the invitation of James Cook University, as an adjunct Professor, she has designed an international program on ‘Indigenous strategies of communication: cultural festivals and new technologies’ with Rosita Henry (James Cook University) and Professor Marcia Langton (University of Melbourne). Author of several books and many publications in scientific collective books, journals and multimedia productions, Dr Glowczewski also has contributed to exhibitions, radio and television shows, and films. Her next book is titled Rêves en colère. Alliances aborigènes d’Australie (Plon, Paris).
