Wmms it is considared neœssary to authorise the issue cf senrch
warrants for lhe purpoae of provins broncher of the provisions of the
Joint Regnlntinn of 4th Deœmber, 1907, which prohibits the
importation into tha New Hebrides of ‘Trade Spirita".
1. It ahall be lawful for the Resl'dent Commissioners lo issue
warrants tn ofiîœrs cf lhe Revenue and Police Services authoriaing
them (o enter into any dwelling bouse or premises during the noms
ofthe day prescrüaed by law for the purpose ofexmnining and mnking
search for articles nsed in the illicit manufacmre or distillation cf
npiritous or intoxicating liquors a: described in subsections (a) to
(c) of section 1 of the Joint Regulatîou aforesnid and to seize and
mon snch articles. In the event of the conviction cf the owner or
nocnpier sucl: articles may be forfaited.
The search warrants insued w (ha qualifia! oflioers shall heur the
signature and seal cf the Resident Commissioner by whom they are
issued and the habitation and premiaes t0 be searched and du full
name and description of the owner or complet thereof :lull be
clearly set forth therein.
Warrants issued in respect of boum or premises in the occupa-
tion of British aubjects or ressortissants shall b: execuled by ofiicers
as nforesm'd of Britiah nationalin and thoae for du search of bouses
or premises in French occupation shall be execnted by oflîœrs of
French nafionalily.
2. Any persan obstructing au oflicer entrasted with the
execution of a scarch warrant under du provisions ofthis Regnlation
or naing abusive language towards him or nsaanlting him shnll be
prosech before the Joint Court, and shall ba liablc to puy a fine
of twenty pounds in addition w any penalty t0 which he may be
lîablc undnr the Law 01' Great Britaîn and France.
3. Thjs Regulation may be cited for all purposea ns the New
Hebrides (Search Warrants) Regnlation No. 2 n1' 1917.
